Standing Behind the Warranty - Badlands Packs

You can’t even imagine how happy I was to finally be on the top. It had been a grueling three and a half hour hike straight uphill to this secluded canyon. This small ledge would be my resting spot, glassing point, and bivy location for the next 4 days. Everything was set and tomorrow was the opener, but as I was unloading my gear and setting up camp, I noticed a small spot on my pack that caused some alarm – a tear!
The Badlands pack at work The author and a fine CA buck push the Badlands pack to its limits. No worries, the company stands behind it's truly unconditional warranty. |
The only comforting thought in my mind was, no matter what I have to do to fix this pack, I know Badlands will make it right when I get back. You see, their warranty is second to none; “We don't care what happened, or whose fault it was, we will fix it for free forever. We could care less if you bought it at a garage sale or a gear swap, as long as it says Badlands on the pack it's covered. All we ask is that you use and abuse your pack as much as possible so we can learn how to make better products”.
The waist belt tear (which I’m sure was a result of my wrongdoing) ended up not being as bad as I originally thought and I was able to make it out of the woods with a great buck riding high in the pack.
Once I returned home, I called Badlands immediately as I had only a four week lag time until my next trip, where the pack would be much needed. The Vortex (the makers of Badlands) representative kindly answered the phone and I explained that I needed to use their warranty. She asked what happened, so after I briefly explained my situation, she said, “no worries, just send it in with the RA (return authorization) number and we’ll get it back to you.”
It took a mere four days for the newly fixed pack to arrive back at my house!
The pack was not just repaired, but they had replaced the entire waist belt and padding. Many companies claim to have great warranties, but for hunters that tend to abuse their gear, buying quality products and brand names can make all the difference.
I currently own two Badlands packs, the 2200 and 4500, but with their great warranty, products, and outstanding customer service, I’m hooked and looking for more. If you’re in the market for a new hunting pack, I’d give serious consideration to any of the Badlands line; they stand behind their product and make what’s wrong, right, without any hassle.
*Available Packs: Hypervent, Diablo, 2200, 2800, 4500, Monster, Super Day, Ultra Day, and the Nano in either RealTree Hardwoods or Max1
