Zooming In on Elk Season

Phillip Loughlin - JHO ProStaff Editor - SF Bay Area, CA
October 19, 2007

Elk season is blazing into full swing around the country, as October wanes into November. Most archery seasons have passed, and the orange-clad rifle hunters are taking over the mountains in states like Colorado, Montana, and Idaho.

For my own part, my Colorado elk hunt produced little more than great memories of beautiful country, but several other Jesse's Hunting and Outdoors members are making the best of the 2007 elk season. Here are just a few of the successful hunters.

Best of the Bunch
JHO Member Paulc's wife took this bruiser in New Mexico. The green-scored, 360-class bull dwarfs Paul's on 2007 bull, and caused quite a stir at the Valle Caldera check station.

ProStaffer's Elk
Kirk Edgerton, JHO ProStaffer took his first archery bull elk in Oregon's Wallowa Mountains.

Wyoming Bull
Wyoming is home to classic elk hunting, and Eric Johnson was fortunate enough to capitalize on it with this nice bull. His hunting partner took another one shortly afterward.
