140 or 150 grain?

Been loading for a couple years now for my 270win and my 7mm rem.
I’m satisfied with the 270 (130grain).
Been using 150 grain on the 7mm.
I want to try 140 grain.
any opinions out there?
Would there be a difference? 500 yds and under.
Using Barnes ttsx
Deer/bear
Thanks

I haven't loaded in years but when I did it was 150 for my 7 mag. About 10 years ago I started buying 140 in the factory ammo. I had ben using 150 and 160 factory ammo. I was just trying different loads and my gun really liked some of the 140 grain loads so I have stayed with it. I am currently shooting 140 grain Federal Trophy copper. My son is shooting the 140 grain Barnes. I have not shot an elk in years but I can tell you the 140 grain bullets work great on deer. They shoot a little flatter but I don't think there is enough difference in energy or wind drift to make any difference in hunting situations. I know a lot of shooters like heavy for caliber projectiles but I like my 140 grain loads. Most bullet manufactures want a few more fps for dependable bullet expansion on the copper loads and you get a tiny bit more fps second with the 140 over the 150 or 160 grain loads.

I’ll play around with it a bit and see how it goes at the range
