I'm posting this along with a few pictures of 2 groups I shot last week, a friend of mine loaned me his 17 to test drive, see if I wanted to buy it, it's a Rem. 40X with a Shilen Barrel, trigger, and all gunsmithing done by John French, had a nice leupold vari-X-III he only gave me 1 box of reloads, this gun shot very well, so what do you think where these good groups or ? worth buying.

Greg, I think if you buy it, you will eliminate any excuses for missing game. So definitely do "not" buy it. LOL

Just kidding of course. Looks and sounds like a fine rifle to me. How is the noise level? I would think that would be another plus for having (if low). Then I could take you to a friends house in the foothills, off the 210 fwy and shoot yotes out his back yard :)

Anyway, let us know if you end up buying it.

Go for it you’ll love them 17’s. You may find that you don’t want to shoot any other rifles any more. You should see what that little round will do to ground rats.
BTW what 17cal is it?

It's a 223 case, you talk about no recoil the gun must weight 12 with scope, and that 26" barrel sounds like your shooting a 22 lr, comes with 2000+ bullets from 17grs to 30grs, dies, & 7lbs of BL-C2 powder.

Huntducks sounds good 223 case it must be a 17/233AI you can tell the OAL of the 17rem is longer them the 223 case as it’s more based on the 222mag then the 223.
If them 30s are Bergers from what I have read don’t push them much over 3800fps the jacket will start to come apart on them over about 3900fps
You’ll like it you can load down to almost 17HMR range with blue dot loads and all the way up 4000+ fps loads with other powders
Here’s a web site that will help out as all the guys are small caliber shooters.
Small caliber page
Look into a pro-shoot cleaning rod for it also best out for 17s has less flex then the others and comes with the jag. Also some Sweets 762 or if you don’t like the ammonia smell the Pro-shot copper solvent II works really good and doesn’t have smell of a gun solvent in fact it has a sweet smell to it.

Wildbirdhunter THANKS

The gun is still sitting in my safe, yet to change ownership i'm finding it hard to part with a grand, just to punch some holes in paper and shoot at a sage rat or two once in a while, I already got other paper punchers and sage rat shooters, what I really want is a new 11-87 super mag so I can quit borrowing my son's.

Decisions, hey maybe he will just forget I have it

Don't think it's just a rat shooter it will kill yotes dead if you do your part and makes for a really nice fox and bobcat round.
Any way let us know if you keep it or not if not I'd put money down he could sell it fast on one of the other boards that has a big 17 crowd
good luck
