1st Hog of the year

Went out yesterday to see what I could find, started out at day break and about an hour into my hike I ran across this tender young thing hanging around. This was my first time hunting this property and I am looking forward to many more Hogs and Turkeys to be taken. She was about 150lbs and will be a good eater, now time to get that big boar I have on the trail cam. Crappy cell photo.

It is a family members place, has owned it for years and kept telling me there are no hogs on the place. I went and looked at it, hung a trail camera one day, checked it a week later saw some pics, not a ton of wildlife pics however; a few hogs and coyotes so i decided to give it a try on Wednesday. The land owner doesn't even know the boundaries of the place, so I am in full gear getting plat maps, topo's and ordering trail camera's etc .... Once I find out exactly where I can and can't go, i will get some more scouting done and place a few more in the penalty box. The place has never been hunted, so to have it with a key to the gate and a permission slip to go whenever I want, I am excited to say the least. I had another ranch that was 10k acres loaded with hogs and turkeys etc ... however the old man that owned it passed away and i lost my permission, so hopefully this will be my new honey hole. Stay tuned ............

wow. nice job and congrats on the hog. Kind of cool since you were told there was no game. Its stories like that witch keep me looking and working on a ranch or farm hook up. Only need one good spot and than you can be set for years. Keep after it and hope it works out good for you. congrats again.

I went back out today and hiked a good section of the property, found ponds and old rooting and lots o poop. I haven't even touched two more parts of the property yet, however; did hang two trail cameras up today. I may head back out tomorrow and scout another section to see what i can find. Stay tuned .....
