I am new to hunting and the forum. My husband, Mr. Blastmaster, and I went hunting on the last 3 day weekend to Fort Hunter Liggett. I had fun I did not get anything however, we seen lots of tracks and almost ambushed some pigs until someone drives by twice and scares them off. I was sitting on a ledge while my husband went into a canyon type of place to look arround and I saw a very big black hairy thing laying down with lots of hair hanging from his neck. I was not for sure if that was a boar or not so I did not shoot. I waived Mr. Blastmaster over to it and he scared it off. He said that he saw big hoof prints that it must have been a prize winning pig. But I cannot shoot unless I know for sure what it is. It looked different than the pictures that I have seen in the past. My husband said that the way I described it , it sounds like a Russian Boar. Also when he climbed back up to sit and look out the ledge with me, I was lookong through the bennoculars and I saw a pig face in what was like a cave made out of brush, that one looked moore like a pig, but We did not have a good aim to shoot where we were, also in the same brush I saw something that looked like that Ice Age character on the cartoon from the side view. Those pigs all look different. I will learn. I appologize for my grammer. I had a wonderful time. I love hiking and tracking and spending the time with my husband enjoying the things that he likes to do. Mrs. Blastmaster

Mrs. Blastmaster,
Wonnerful!!! You were in one of the most beautiful places in California(Fort Hunter Liggett). Good gracious!!! You have excellent eyesight. Able to recognize and detect pigs that are hard to spot if they are not moving. Once you harvest your wild pig and you marinate it and bar-b-q it, you will be hooked. Congratulations. God Bless and 'Nuff said.

sounds like you had a good time.........sit tight and you'll get a hog.......from what you've said I think luck is with you as alot of people never see hogs when hunting.......good luck and happy hunting.

Congrats on a good hunt and welcome. You have a great attitude. Soon, though, I think you will find a basic similarity in the way the pigs look. They will all look like dinner.

Glad to have you here.

We went hunting again the weekend of March 28th at Fort Hunter Liggett. I usually see pigs at least but I only heard them this time. We saw alot of tracks and Mrblastmaster saw a couple this time. We will try our luck again on a one day trip to Camp Roberts the end of this month. We will take two of our boys. The weather was nice. It seams as if Mrblastmaster is slowing down a little. It is ok if I do not get anything, I just love the quality time spent with my husband! We both love to hunt and fish and camp.
