Hunting Buddy/Mentor Wanted 2 new hunters looking for guidance - Sacramento Area

Hi y'all my cousin and I recently got our hunting licenses and wondering where to start. I signed up for a duck hunting course in a couple of weeks but would like to learning to deer hunt. Where should we start? Any good resources or good places to start scouting?
