Turner’s Outdoorsman sets upseries of five hog hunts on Tejon.

There will be a total of five weekend hog hunts for unguided hunters in 2002 as part of the Turner’s Outdoorsman, Mike Raahauge Shooting Enterprises, and California Hog Hunter series of hunts on the Tejon Ranch.

These hunts offer sportsmen a unique opportunity to pursue wild hogs on the 270,000-acre Tejon Ranch in southern Kern County. Since the hunts are unguided, hunters can explore the vast ranch at their own pace. All meals and lodging are provided as part of the package, so hunters can hunt until dark and then return back one of the Tejon’s hunting lodges and know a shower, a hot meal, and a warm bed will be waiting.

The success rates of last year’s Turner’s hunts was about 60 percent, and most hunters reported getting opportunities to kill wild hogs.

The dates for the 2002 series of hunts is as follows: February 22-24, March 22-24, May 17-19, June 28-30, July 26-28. Other dates may be added in the future, and we may reserve one of these dates for a adult-junior hunter weekend.

Cost for each hunt is $510 per person. This fee includes the $10 insurance fee mandated by the Tejon Ranch, along with all food and lodging during the weekend. Hunters should bring their own drinks, field cleaning equipment, and a large ice chest to haul game home.

To receive a registration packet and to get more information on these hunts or to be placed on the mailing list for future Turner’s Outdoorman-Raahauge’s-California Hog Hunter events, call the newsletter office at (909) 887-3444.
