I went to buy a Mathews switchback and found out the 06 will be in around the middle of December. Two inches shorter with some more dampers. The bow shoots great that I tried out. I just might be able to go hunting with it yet this year. Has anyone heard anything else about this bow?

The Legacy is a shooter!

I shoot last years switchback and have been real pleased with the performance I get. It will be a while before its replaced.
I also just picked up a 2005 Conquest 3 about a month ago for target archery. The little time behind it so far, its a shooter. Can't wait to see how it does when the year's tournaments start again.
I have not been shooting Mathews all that long but can say I am pretty impresssed with their equippment. Can't wait to hear more people's feedabck shooting the 2006 line.

I too shoot the Legacy and just cannot justify another bow because it's so good. I have to wonder what they did to improve on the legacy? I hear rave reviews of the switchback and would love to have one to try, or even just to see it. I live in a very rural area with no Mathews proshops anyplace even close.

Once I found the legacy and shot it It was everything I could have hoped for in a Bow. I still think its awsome and perfect for me. What the heck did they do to the switchback to somehow make it so much better?

I shoot a 1997 featherlight and have not shot a new bow until a friend bought a switchback and to say I am impressed is an understatement. It is so smooth and has no torque upon release. The 06 switchback xt is 2 inches shorter than the 05 model and that is what will be in my treestand in a few weeks. They are expensive but I keep my bows for a long time so I can justify buying the bow.

the outback and the switchback both have a different cam than the legacy. The new switch back xt is shorter A to A has dampners in the cable guide and dampners on the string supressors. Those are the major differences. Look at http://www.mathewsinc.com/index.asp for more info. I love my legacy.

Maybe I'm not smart enough to figure out the advantages of all the dampener stuff on these bows. However it's my feeling that my arrow is in the target or animal long before those dampeners do anything for me. The instant I release that arrow it has gone through or is sticking out of something 30 yards away. There does not seem to be any real advantage to adding all this dampening technology to me, at least beyond what the legacy offers.

Now if there is some magic cam that can produce better results that I would be able to accept.

nothing is wrong with the Legacy. and the dampners, well you are right. I think they are there more for the shooter than anything else. That cam on the switchback though is awesome.

I got my new switchback last Friday. The first one that was sold through the archery shop I go to. It has a 30 inch draw and shoots 268 - 270 through the graph with 400 grain axis arrows. This should last me awhile.

The dampers will help with hunting. Sound travels something like 1100 fps, and your arrow only does 300fps.

I spent hours shooting the Switchback & the Bowtech. It was a tough choice, but I went home with the Switchback to hunt this season. It worked great for me! Maybe I'm moron,

but I just went back @ thanksgiving to shoot them again. I came home with the Bowtech.

Is there such thing as a "back-up bow".

if that was me I would be in BIG BIG trouble. I hope you can patch it up. When I talked to my wife about getting the new switchback she said "you just got a bow, 4 years ago"
