Well, I went out for a simple scouting mission this weekend, and found three antlers. None are particularly exceptional, but one was a small matched set, very fresh, within ten feet of each other.

I've had a bunch of folks tell me it's too early, and most of the buck I saw were still wearing, but it's great to have an idea where they are yarded up.

I've seen a few small ones leaving the nest.

Congrats on your luck! I'm going to hit the woods at the beginning of February! Hunting season is still going on here in Ohio, so I promised to stay out of the woods since we still have buddies hunting this month.

Hey Kids ...

A little more walking around yeilded yet another lone three point, and a chewed drop from last year.

The attached pic was from the "surprise" match find last weekend.

Hope everyone else is starting to get jazzed! Watch yer top knot and keep yer powder dry ...

More surprises this weekend. Found two, with photos for the second attached. The funny thing was the internal dialogue I was having as I walked toward this shed ... it was uphill, it was getting dark, and my dogs were wrapping their leashes all around me ... I was annoyed and thought how silly it was that I was stomping up to this lone tree to look for an antler ...

My hunting partner also found a nice one, with the front tines jabbed into the ground. I was impressed he found it as it was a tough one to spot.
