Been mostly sunset fishing the last month and started getting out again during the morning and afternoon bite, its getting a little more active on the strikes, missed some real good ones but landed some 2 and 3 lbrs. Since the weekend.
Yesterday morning I hooked one then agian in the afternoon on
Gator activity in the ponds is very high right now and makes me wonder why I sunset fish in the dark, oh yeh to hook the one!. In the morning I have two adult gators together in one pond looked like the Male was getting territorial with his female gets on top of her I believe to mate and pushed the female under while on top. So that pond was a bust. Then another pond a very healthy 8 ft. Gator came to check me out after landing a nice bass. Look at the back and scales on that gator it's been around for a long time. Just little Challenges I must deal with while fishing the banks.
Another 2 or 3 mo. The spawn should be in full swing and some real huge bedding females will b ready for me to hook that's when it gets really good.
Thnx 4 following my post, and get out and hook one today!....tra

Took a break from the sunset fishing yesterday and did a little early afternoon pond hopping even though I knew the bite would not b that great. It was a sunny 85 degrees with a light wind. After 4 ponds and a lot of cast and no strikes with a swimbait and brush hawg I decided to throw a new frog i just got in this little corner weed bank patch and on the first cast I get the blowup, set the hook great and got it on the bank for some quick pics and released back in.
This bass had to be the scruniest one I have caught in a while it looked healthy but real slim belly like it hasn't eaten well that's why it blew up on the frog it was starving...lol
Hope to hook a super lunker today, thnx 4 following my post And get out and hook one today!....tra

I don't eat , I don't sleep, I just fish!...lol
Went to a pond I haven't been too in about a year its huge an easy mile of bank. I took the long walk and cast as I went and I hooked another weird shape bass real skinny belly and I am sure it's not post spawn.
Then after about 20 min. I spotted a couple of nice lunkers cruising the bank with some matted grass. I threw a frog first one tried to strike then just gave up so I swapped out and put a blue brush hawg on it and cast out and bam I get the strike and a great hook set and got it up to the steep bank took some pics and released back in, around a 4 lbr.. it made it worth the long walk might try agian tomorrow, still have a lot of bank to cover there. ...tra
Here's the 1st fish then the bigger one after......

Your bass are way ahead of ours. Most of our fish are still deep. If course you tend to catch a few more large fish also.

Yeh I have rubber arms after a good fishing session...lol
Went out for the afternoon bite or was a nice day around 87. The first few cast I hook a big lunker then it gets off a hart sinker but I had about 2 mi. Of bank to cover in 2 1/2 hrs still.
I ended up landing 4, two where around 4 lbs decent bass.
Then I lost 2 more huge ones at sunset. Not bad for a Florida winter day. Spring is almost here....traf8a1b95b9541209847cf72ee0bb23a28.jpg143153b18d44a9829921683d2871767d.jpg5d70e5f25d33df9493613729278e3cd2.jpgf3d6a1418e20cf3982b5e2c82598a905.jpga5b1281eeadfd8fbd560fa781e9b8d42.jpg4ba83eb3df3aad1a87df2d2d74b24589.jpg38dcf864ab591768fee352c7cae68f76.jpg69574de520becd10504af45710755948.jpg763c873ffc97709c1fc384d3ceb7d310.jpg

Had a really good day of fishing yesterday, I worked a one mile strip bank early afternoon for 3 hrs hooked 10 bass landed 6 three of them between 3 and 4 lbs. And lost a couple of real good ones. Started using the sticko blue worm agian and definitely got a lot ou f strikes and hook ups. Also my sebile single hook frog with the braid set up will guarantee me to land a dd bass if I get a great hook set like I did with a nice 4 lbr yesterday.
Then for the sunset session I took the fishing trike out but no luck.
Looks like the action is starting to pick up and the next 3 mo. Should be steller for mega mouth bass to start striking hard. Thnx 4 following my post and get out and hook one today !....tra

I have the EScoot to pond hop already and peddling the fishing trike will keep me from getting a phat azz...lol
Got out yesterday afternoon from 2-4 for a quick session and the bass were playing hard to get. It was around 85 and very humid and windy.
It's been about 4 years since I have casted a jerk bait because they always draw the gators out and I really hate to deal with the treble hooks but I thought the conditions made it worth a try.
The first fish I hooked with it was just snack size...lol but it got the hit so that was good then at another pond I hook a nice 2 lbr on the jerk and of course the fish shook like crazy and I got stuck with a treble hook.
Then the next cast I had a super lunker hit the jerk bait and snapped my line before I could set the hooks it had to be close to a dd to do that they r solid like a rock. Now I was pissed that I lost a nice bass and it's got my only jerk bait stuck in its mouth now swimming around. My hart sunk so I headed home for dinner and then got back out for the evening bite which turned out interesting u can read in my frog crushing post....tra

Yeh it's been a while since I used the fly rod, I am just waiting for the right conditions. Bass are in pre spawn mode now but over the next couple months the spawn will get way better to work the fly rod and I will post up when I do.
My biggest bass on a fly so far is 2 lbs. And that was on a little tiny popper fly. I want to get some bowfishing in too believe me.....tra
