Wow I think it's been almost 2 yrs since I bow fished then it hit me I can bowfish at the canal and dam set up I been urban fishing for the last 3 mo.
Yesterday morning I loaded up my bowfishing equipment, cast net , Gigging pole , and fishing poles.
8:30 am clear blue sky no wind and clear brackish water.
Theres 26" huge bull mullets swimming around, big Spotted gar, myan chiclids , sheepshead, bowfin abs black Armored Catfish all swimming around the bottom of the damn.
I was definitely rusty with the bow but I had plenty of shot opportunities to get back into the grove.
These shots where I was taking were 10 to 30 ft out. I ended up shooting a gar, mullet and myan chiclid.
I got to shoot nonstop for over an hr had a great time. Still getting use to cast Netting but got one myan c. , forgot I had my gig pole with me could of got alot of gar, might go back this morning.
These canals were built in the 1920's off a main tributary and there are tarpon and snook all in these canal too, pretty cool.
Now a have a cool spot where I can pole fish, gig, cast net and bowfish, thanks for following my post and get out and hook one today!....tra

Got out yesterday morning for a Bowfishing session, still missed alot, most shots around 15 to 30 yrds out. Managed to connect with 2 mullet.
They school all around the bottom of the damn area and u can see them breaking water like tarpon alot, I googled it they have a couple theories but they are still not really sure why but it's cool to watch.....tra

I went back this morning to my spot to do some Bowfishing but all the mullet dissapeared, there were a few gar but the overcast rolled in and even with my Costas it was tuff to see anything unless it was on top like gar. I managed to connect with one gar but after that the action died quickly.
I saw my first huge grass carpet today it look like a torpedo had to b over 30 inches, so cool. They are off limits though, wish it wasn't overcast I wanted to get pics, maybe next time.....tra

I Just got back from my dam spot and just like I thought the water was rushing like crazy over the dam and a couple feet higher in the basin part.
Even with a little sun and my Costa sunglasses it was totally dark waters couldn't see chit unless it was on top. Didn't get a chance to use the Bowfishing bow but was able to gig a Spotted gar in a side canal that was cruzing the topwater.
Once things settle agian I give it a shot, but this is our Rainstorm season it's hard for anything to settle with constant almost daily Thunderstorms, that's Florida for u!......tra
