It seems since the beginning
of the year all my nice fish I have hooked have been on the frog. Yesterday I hooked a nice small pre-chunker on a partial Crack craw. It was a young male on a early bed.
Once these fish move up for the pre spawn I will have more opportunities to hook them more with different soft plastics besides the frog, but wait till u see the one I hooked on the frog yesterday.....tra

I took a few days off from the ponds i got pretty beat up this past month fishing and needed a break from the constant super windy weather. And of course Yesterday I headed back out to hit the ponds and it was very cool with 15 mph wind already by 9 am.
Got all dressed up and headed to the BUTTERBALL pond to see if I could get a lunker to strike. I stated with the frog and after a few cast I get a strike almost 30 yrds out and this big bass came out the water big time hitting my frog. I set the hook and start reeling it in and right before I got it to the bank the hooks dislodged and I lost a real nice bass I was hart broken to loose it.
I knew it wouldn't hit the frog agian after I had it hooked good the first time so I took a chance and casted out a new Berkeley Swimbait I wanted to try out and first cast back out I get s good hit and set the hook good and landed a real nice lunker Largemouth and i am pretty sure it was the one I just lost so I was happy agian.
Then a few minutes later I cast out the Swimbait agian and just before it reached the bank as I was reeling it back in I see a decent bass was on it but just missed to strike it, it didn't look that big but I recasted just beyond it brought the Swimbait back to the bank in front of it and it picks it up and runs.
I set the hook good but I couldn't reel it in easy so I just ran up the bank and hauled it in, it was way bigger then I thought. as crappy as it was I was able to hook 2 outstanding lunkers back to back and call it a day. Already this morning its 44 degrees right now and two mornings ago it was 71, absolutely yo yo weather every week I can't wait till it stabilizes and the spawn kicks in then I will b hooking pond monsters left and right. Enjoy the pics and thnx 4 following my post and get out and hook one today!......tra
Heres the first one a little bigger then the second one....

Nice looking bass. That style of swimbait is one of my go to lures. I use the Keitech brand as well as the Bass Pro brand. They all work well. A little early for topwater action here I think but then again some guys throw topwater every trip.

That second one looks familiar......wasn't he a little smaller when you reeled him in last year?

Hit the ponds early yesterday morning before the wind picked up started at the BUTTERBALL pond.
Started with the frog but no hits then a bp Swimbait bait nothing then the Berkeley Swimbait and about 30 yards out I get a instant hit and I have a super hard fighting lunker bass broke water aleast 3 times doing the shakey shakey air dance trying to throw my hook but I stayed patient and reeled it in without loosing it. I was pumped it was a great fight and air battle, not as big as it looked but still a nice solid Fatback male. Getting ready to hit the ponds in a couple hrs get a early start again.
Already 72 degrees at 5 am this morning it going to b a hot one today.
Then I lost a Monster on the BP Swimbait went to set the hook and snapped the line then after I hooked a little mini bass on it how funny......tra

After hooking a pond Monster on the frog yesterday morning a 1 1/2: later and another pond I cast 30 feet out along the bank water reeds and all of a sudden I think I snag the water reeds try to rip it out and next thing I see a big lunker bass break water it must of hit my Swimbait on water contact. It put on a great aerial show and fight bringing it in.
I couldn't b happier to land 2 super nice Largemouths in one morning plus I lost one that was bigger then my first 2 but I know where it is and I will b back for it. Enjoy!....tra

Finally after months of fronts and unsettled weather and nasty winds we have gotten some hot calm steady weather and yesterday I could see the pre spawn activity ramping up with bass stating to move up to the banks and start their mating ritual and bedding location.
The next challenge is trying to get their attention to strike now. I hooked my first young chunker female off a bed with the Crack craw then I hooked a decent young male on the Berkeley Swimbait.
Looking forward to hooking some big mamas soon and hopefully my bucket list bass of a lifetime........tra

Saturday early Afternoon I got to fish the only one pond in 6 yrs living here I never got a chance to fish and omg it's loaded with lunker bass, I was able to hook a couple nice pre spawner females off the bed with the junebug Sticko.
Theres way bigger ones in there I have to work a little harder to get their attention now with the spawning cycle going on.
And I have spotted at least 3 huge bass all around 26" in three different ponds but I can't get them to strike they r definitely smart that's how they live to get that big, but just knowing that they r their will keep my drive to hook my personal best yet still, so stay tuned and get out and hook one today!.....tra

While I was bass fishing this morning I had a big bass swimming around I was trying to hook and out of nowhere this 24" spotted gar comes and grabs my Crack craw just before the bass could and now the bass was trying to get the Crack Craw from the gar they where side by side then I set the hook and dragged the gar on the bank.
I wanted the damn bass but got the gar, later I got the bass to strike the bait but I snapped my braid line on the set, my heart dropped! I should of did a retie after I hooked the gar my line was stressed out. Hopefully I get another chance.........tra
