For a few days at this one pond everytime I was ready to pull my bait out of the water this bass would just pop out of nowhere try to grab my bait at the very late second and dissapear like Houdini, I would react to quick each time and would not get a good hook set. This happened like 3 times with that fish that morning it pop up out of nowhere and dissapear like Houdini.
So all right I said to my self i will wait all day then I will go back just at sunset and try to get Houdini, I wanted to out smart and hook that fish so bad.
So right at sunset I went back to the pond to see if I could get Houdini to pop out agian and for 20 min. I kept fan casting out and retrieving my ragetail Anaconda right back to the bank edge waiting for Houdini.
Well after 20 min. I didn't get any action at all the bite was dead and was thinking about how lucky Houdini was today I try back in the morning.
I decided to throw one more cast and just as I was ready to pull my bait out of the water and the black figure of Houdini pops up and grabs my bait and starts heading out with my line, I held patient for a few extra seconds and set the hook good and finally I got Houdini on the bank in hand I was so happy and stoked, now I wont loose sleep thinking about that fish. ......lol
It's so cool to out smart a bass like Houdini it gave me a good challenge, I dont want fishing to be so easy and I dont want fishing to be so hard, just always looking for that nice medium. Thnx for following my post!.... tra

It was a tuff bite weekend for me with the continual crappy weather pattern but I was able to get a couple of real nice lunkers, one Saturday morning and one sunday morning both on the zoom Horny toad they could not resist.
The one I hooked sunday morning was exciting. I was on a bank corner of a pond where a foot down is a drain pipe below the water. it was solid over cast and stained water. I was fan casting out and thank God for Costa sunglasses because just after a long cast I look down and see this lunker bass come out of the drain pipe all slow moving as I was retrieving my zoom Horny toad back, i crossed it perfectly in front of its face and it just gulped it and headed deep, i set the hook had a good fight and got it up on the bank I was shaking it all happened so fast. Great way to start the day and if I didnt have great polarized glasses I would of never saw that bass. I am truly a fish hunter.....lol
Enjoy the pics! get out and hook one!....tra

The one I hooked Sunday I am wearing the green shirt..

Thread only shows the first two pics of your last post but that is a great looking bass. BTW have you ever tried "snatching" snook during a feeding frenzy?

I tossed my Sticko Worm beyond them and reeled it in front of them right to the bank edge and the highest one of the group snatched the Sticko quick I awt the hook and for it on the bank......tra

RA you inspired me to do a bit of Bass fishing with all your great fotos. So yesterday while we have the pop-up blind off the duck boat for the summer we decide to put down the shotguns and grab our poles and head for a near by lake. Dang that Bass fishin' is fun! Might have to go again next week!IMG_1871.jpg

For the last 2 weeks theres been this one bass out deep in this one spot that would nibble at my Sticko on a jig I would slowly bounce of the bottom of the pond while retrieving trying to bump a bass on their bed. It would never take the hook.
Finally today at midday it was 105 degrees feel like temp and 9 mph wind in my face and I was working the spot on the pond floor bottom agian trying to see if I could bump (Teaser) basses nickname and try and hook him.
I get the nibble and thats it! So I pass a few times again bumping the bottom I feel a good grab but still wouldnt take the hook. One last time I get the pick up on my bait and watch the line go out and then got a good hook set and reeled in Teaser, that bass was little under 3 lbs but I was super happy to finally hook him and get that off my mind . .....tra

For yesterday sunset I went out to try some older lures I finally upgraded with some high quality hooks, I will start another post on that.
I had one of these Bass pro lazer eye shad they come with crappy treble hook So i swapped it out with gamakatsu treble hook.
After a couple cast this Bucketmouth inhales the Swimbait just before I was ready to yank my lure out the water. Then somehow I lost the lure after that so I shot down the road to BP and bought another one, I think this will b one for a lunker hard to resist.
Now I got to change the hook out agian.....lol.. tra
