Just bought a Weatherby mark V in 340 Mag. I will load Barnes bullets in 225 or 250GR. I have RL25, IMR7828, 4350 and H4831sc on hand. I was wondering if anyone has loaded for this round and what load or powder you have found accurate. Thanks in advance

I have quite a bit of data on the 340. I helped a friend reload for it a few years back.
Big Round.
We used IMR 7828 for most loads.
It would be best to get the latest Barnes Manual.

I went through an extensive workup last spring on a Mark V Fibermark I put into a custom stock, for my hunting partner. This gun shot NOTHING well. Well being 1/2-3/4" groups at 100 meters. I used everything: Nosler partitions, Accubonds, Hornady Interlocks, and finally out of desperation I used the old accuracy standby--Sierra Spitzers in 250 grain. I found a load of 90.0 grains of RL25 using a Federal LRMM and this bullet would consistently give 3/4" at 100.

The other factor was I set the bullets out as far as they would go and still fit in the magazine. The freebore is sooooo long that nothing is going to shoot spectacularly well in it.

Hope this helps.
