I just picked up a Marlin 336RC in .35 Rem can't wait to take it hog hunting. Any of you shot a hog with one? How big ...what distance ....bullet wieght etc. (I think I'll just order a few boxes of Remington,Federal and winchester in 200 gr and see what shoots best. I wont bother with the buffalo Bore stuff just yet.

Sounds like a fun brush gun~!

I've got an old Remington Model 8 in my safe in 35 Rem that used to be my bro-in-laws Grandfather's. It's taken many deer and a few bear.

It's ballistically similar to the 30-30 except I think it might have a slight edge in terms of knock-down. Max. Range is probably 200 yds and I'd stick with the 200 grain bullets.

The 35 Wheelen is a much more powerful cartrige and zings a 200 grainer from the muzzle @ 2700 fps while a 35 Rem's muzz velocity is around 2000 fps for the same bullet.

I just wish I could find a local shop that would sell 35 ammo for less than 20+ bucks a box! In "real life" 35Rem ammo is only a few bucks more than 30-30 ammo. Online it goes for 12-13 bucks/box wich is more like it so I guess I'll be a mail order only guy for ammo. That's of course if I don't handload and it semms I just may end up doing that.If any one knows of a good shop to buy 35Rem ammo near Ventura county let me know please.(still waitin' on that fish Jess)

A buddy of mine shot a couple of nice fat sows with a Marlin in .35 Rem, and both were one shot kills at about 100 and 150 yards.

35 Rem excellent for hog...I have shot hundreds as here in Florida you can hog hunt year around on private property...I deer hunt with the 35 Rem and have been on a few black bear hunts with it...it's a great round and under estimated...a Marlin 336 in 35 Rem is a real sleeper...an all around rifle...
