Okay with the new 45/70 I have, I was wondering what loads everyone that had one used for hogs? I do some reloading, so that is a possiblity too, but would like to know what store bought ammo works well. Looking for something that doesnt kick awhole lot but has some good knockdown power.

If you're reloading, you have a ton of options.

Another place to look is Beartoothbullets.com for numerous hardcast bullets, and they have a link to loadswap to check out some recipes.

Those Remington, Winchester and Federal 45-70 loads in 350 to 405 grains in soft point but NOT HOLLOW POINT(it will expand instantly & will have poor penetration) should flatten 200-300 lb. wild boars easily within 100-150 yds. You will love the knockdown power of those .458 caliber slugs. They are awesome on hogs. Go get 'em Tiger!!!!!! God Bless. 'Nuff said.
