This lower jaw was removed from a 360# russian boar taken in Iran about 4 years ago. My grandfather shot it at about 60 yards with a 12 gauge slug, not bad for a 72 year old. Unfortunatly he didn't take any pictures of the pig but he keep the lower jaw to give to me. I could only imagine what kind of damage this pig could do.

We hunt the big boys at and around Nehka, about 4 hours north of Tehran. Just curious about how you are familiar with the country? Have you been there? Hunted?

Back in the days when the Shah was in power and they were our allies, my dad was sent over there to teach them how to fly helicopters, namely Hueys and Cobras. I have the dubious distinction of having been born in Isfahan while he was serving over there.
I know what you and sdbowyer mean about "one of these days..." I would love to be able to hunt there as well. Hopefully, the younger, more Westernized, generation will throw the current crop of leadership out soon and things will settle down enough for it to be entirely safe to return there. It is a beautiful country.

Wow, most of my relatives are from Isfahan. I remember the days of the Shah, there were so many Westerner that came over (the good ol days).
I was talking with my uncle couple of days ago (he is there right now), he was saying how him and his friends just nailed 5 hogs, man was I jealous.
I am trying to make a trip down there before I start medical school, the only thing stopping me is the military service of 2 years that is required for born citizen. I could buy myself out of it, but it would cost me about $2,500. Guess I better start saving up.
