Here's the plans for a $5 tule seat.

The top piece is a 12" standard 2" X 4". Fits a standard width butt (your size may vary).

The vertical piece and the two horizontals are 2" X 2" (made by ripping a standard 2" X 4" in half)

The lower horizontal is 9" long, the upper one is 6". The vertical piece is 28" long.

The lower horizontal is placed 8" from the bottom of the vertical or 20" from the top.

Two 2 1/2" deck screws hold the horizontals to the vertical.

Four 2 1/2" deck screws hold the top piece in place. Sink the screws slightly below the level of the wood on the top piece to prevent wader rips.

Using a 3/4" spade, drill holes in the top piece and lower horizontal to lighten the weight.

Sand any rough edges smooth.

No need to sharpen the bottom of the vertical.

If you use new wood, leave the seat outside for a month to take on a more neutral gray. Throwing it in the mud or water helps the aging process.
