I was looking at Ruger Super Blackhawks the other night cuz I might need a piggie gun for a hunting trip next month. Just for kicks I fondled a 4" 500 Smith and Wesson. My eyebrows met, my fangs grew to the floor.
Now would this really work as a hog killer?
What are the specs on the 500 S&W? Velocity bullet, wieghts?

I'm thinking yes, but you prolly should try it just to be sure.

The 500 would be one heck of a hog gun if you're serious about shooting them with a hand cannon. You'd want to leave the rifle home, though, because at about 6 lbs loaded, it's gonna be a handful to carry.

Some info on Cor-Bon loads for the 500

I think you need one for each hand!

May I also suggest a large shoulder holster.

I'll envy you if you get one.
