6mm ppc

I am just curious as to if anyone can explain why this cartridge seems to dominate benchrest . In other words what makes it more acccurate other cals ?

Short and fat
It has to do with the way the powder column burns in the case at almost the same rate giving you almost the same pressure and velocity from shot to shot
That is what I have read but I still could be wrong.

I have no idea, but I sure would love to just once see more than one hole in their targets, and preferably larger than 1/4". I never sit close to one of those cats. Very embarrasing! They are definitely the most accurate caliber out there.

I haven't been paying attention, but does any of our big gun companys offer a rifle in that caliber yet?? They sure never used to, which just amazed me to no end.

No it's still a wildcat round. But the nice thing is the 22, 6mm PPC and the 22, 6mm BR are making the big gunmakers come out with the short mag rounds.

They offer it now (well pretty much the same thing). It's essentially the WSSM's in .223 and 6mm being offered this year by Browning and Winchester. I can't really justify buying one right now (yeah right, I need another project! Ha!) but I won't be surprised when they hit the streets and people start speaking of the one hole groups they get. Just my suspicions....

BTW, you could have a Savage chambered in that 6PPC

Got a .308 bolt face Savage hanging about?

I just sold my Ruger M77 in 7.62X39!
Jeeze I could have just rebarreled it to 6mm ppc and had a awsome varmint rifle....DOH!

That's true Marine, forgot about the new WSSM's and I'm also sure they will be extremely accurate. The 270 WSM that I shot sure was and these should be even more so.

I might be finished on buying any more rifles though, having pretty much all I want. However, if I were buying one it probably would be one of the new shorties.

Rudy, that's whats great about this hobby. I always look at like golf. It can never be played with just one club and a-l-w-a-y-s need new ones from time to time.

I think the new WSSm is overbore not much difference in velocity than a 22 BR with lots more powder which will equal lots more erosion in the throat. I'd stick with the 22BR if it were my choiuce.
Stick with the BR family and more more life out your barrel. I don't think you'ld be disappointed.
