I am buying/ordering one of these Swaroski's. I am just not sure on the power 10 or 8.5. Any thoughts on that. I really like the 8.5's but am still leaning to the 10. I currently have a pair of 8x Steiners that work great.

Edited I meant 10x42SLC's.

I'd go with the 10 power. They focus in up close, but still reach out pretty far.

What will your application be? If used around your neck while hiking, still hunting, ...any situation where you might not have something to rest again or may be breathing ever so slightly heavy...I would go for the 8.5x's. Had several pairs of 10x's over the years and went to 8x's last year. It was the best move I ever made... Many sell and many use 10x's, they are very popular. However I got talked into 8x Leicas (had 10x Swarovskis at the time-sold off) and am very very happy. If you want binos for spot and stalk in open country (eg. high desert for muleys) would suggest Swarovski 15x56 or the Leica 8-12x50 or 10-15x50 glasses. Just another opinion... Good luck!

I bought the 10x42 els last year and used them in heavy blacktail deer timber. I like the 10's but it's all a matter of personal preference. I saved for years to get the swaros because they are the best. You must decide what application you will use them under and go with your gut. Never let anyone talk you into or out of $1,400 purchase. Either pair of the swaros and you will not be disappointed. Enjoy em' and let us know what happens. JD

Thanks, for the info. Just got back today and will order today. I guess I will flip the coin as I order (probably the 8.5 's)

Got them in this morning and I do like them a lot. Just tried them at dusk and that is where they make the big difference. Clear and sharp. Man what a field of view on these.
