While on a New Mexico elk hunt as he's lining up the crosshairs on a nice bull this past season he had a slight distraction, but still managed to get the shot off and drop the bull............................................

1051.jpg And I thought being 24 feet up a tree was exciting seeing my first bear in Maryland while hunting.

Yikes. I can't believe Booboo didn't see or smell that guy. Usually when I've been close to bears like they they eventually spot me even without moving. They seem to spot our game cams too, uncanny how they walk right up to them.

Four years ago my son took me and my daughter's 11 year old on a backpack bear hunt. Woke up a dawn, walked maybe 50 yards, and guess what we saw!!!! By sun up, the bear was down.

About noon as we were still packing it out; my grandson turned white. He looked up at me and said, "Hey grandad, the bear was pretty close to where we were sleeping."
