What can I say....outstanding...and I love seeing the pics. We just covered a mile square swamp on snow shoes Sunday (which traditionally was one of the big yards around here). No deer at all in it and just a few old coyote tracks. Even when you find some deer it's a big herd of like 7 deer (that's a good-sized yarding herd, 20 would be tops-huge) and very, very few bucks. Steve, keep those pics coming. How bout some general pics of the woods and terrain in your area. Where's that little boy of yours (that can walk most anyone into the ground)?
TJF-I feel like I died and went to shed heaven this year!! Usually my season is just starting to take off at this time of year.I think alot of deer dropped early this year and with the extra time I have for looking, the combination is great!!
I"d say a good many have dropped already in my areas. In some spots though I'm still only finding a few or none and I know the buck are there.I don't think many others have been hitting it yet cause some that I'm finding are out in the open.
It's just been one of those seasons!!
Shag-if you remember how worried the little guy was about us getting lost while we were looking for those elk sheds.I don't think he wants to go cause of that??
I try to show a little of the terrain in my pics.If I don'y crop the pics down they're all out of focus. If you look at that one pic up above you can make out the fairway in the background.
Leinie's-that shed buried in the leaves was fresh this year.It had what I call the perfect color for a antler,I like the white racks. If it was more brownish in color I never would have spotted it.
My nephew was along that day and saw me stop and try and see what it was.I spotted it about 30 yds. away, but wasn't sure what it was.The entire area was brown leaves except 3 white sticks sticking up.
