You better come back with porky! Time to revive your success ratio. :D

Yeah....... well - I had a pretty well defined plan, based on the limited number of TA's that had been available up to this point. Now I see a couple that I haven't been to in ages, and don't know what to do.

Got the PM too late...... didn't bring a laptop. :( I'm staying at The Hacienda these days - $50/night for the Cowboy rooms, and endless entertainment at the bar watching the karaoke. :)

Scored again.... as soon as I get the pics sorted out and the gear squared away I'll start a new thread.

Well, now....... glad I went last weekend. This weekend is Junior Hunt weekend, and the TA's to choose from are slim pickings:

Hunting - Saturday - Sunday Oct. 5 - 6
  • Archery Only: 3, 6B, 13B
  • General Weapons: 8, 17
  • Archery, Muzzleloader, Shotgun: 4, 11, 14
  • J-10: 2, 5, 6A, 7
  • G-8: 18, 26, 28
I assume J-10 is the junior hunt...... what's G-8?

G8 is an antlerless hunt. 10 tags for military and 10 for general public through DFG. There are actually quite a few more areas open due to no training on base due to shutdown. I got a better area for G8 than expected based on initial website posting. For some reason they haven't updated yet. Most of the elk friendly areas are set aside for the elk hunters as well. Pretty much the whole base is open to hunting this weekend . They have just divided the areas between the juniors (lots of good areas too), elk hunters and G8. The fact that the outdoor rec folks are paid out of the various permit fees is why there is hunting during the shut down. I guess there is a silver lining in the increased fees this year.
