Hey All, Im fairly new to A Zone hunting and am looking for some recommendations for a Camp/hunt area in A zone. Im looking to put my 11 year old son on a chance to stalk his first deer. Im not looking for anyones specific spot or areas where people have had success but am looking for recommendations where I can take my son and camp for a night or two and try out luck.

Any suggestions of areas to explore would be greatly appreciated. Looking for any public lands or overloading spots. My 4runner can handle and OHV or off road terrain.

Thank you all and happy hunting.

My son filled my A-zone tag on BLM land when he was ten. Williams Hill in Monterey county.

You will find them near a water source, and it is HOT --- so you will need plenty of water too!

There is an area where property ownership is 40 acres checkerboard between private and BLM. Some of those little 40 acre sections are a good bet.

Also, if it is not posted, fenced, or under cultivation; you are not trespassing if you enter —— though you must leave if asked.
