JDMCox Software

These files can also be downloaded from http://members.home.net/dcox116/

USAPhotoMaps 1.21 downloads U.S.Geological Survey aerial photos from http://terraserver.homeadvisor.msn.com/ and creates a contiguous scrollable, zoomable, GPS-enabled map from them.

USAWaypoint 1.0 and ReadTracks 1.0 are auxiliary programs for USAPhotoMaps.

RedEye 1.1 simplifies the elimination of red-eye in digital photos.

FillOutAForm 1.3 enables you to fill out a scanned form on your computer and print it.

These are all free. They run under Windows98, and were written in C by Doug Cox, a retired airline pilot (and computer programmer since 1983).

The USAPhotoMaps is really useful.  A nice quick, easy to look up application.

I can't seem to get it to communicate with my Garmin eTrex though.  I've tried different settings and nothing seems to work but yet I have no problem with the MapSource CDs.  Any insight?

Thanks,
Todd

Todd,

I haven't had a chance yet to play with the software yet. Try e-mailing Doug to see what he can do to solve your problem with your e-trex.

Please post a review of the software if you get a chance.

Howdy folks,

i use this software all the time and it is very handy to check out your hunting spots from waypoints that you have taken out in the field.

it allows you to find exactly what you are looking for with ease

it also shows your tracklogs on the aireal photos that come in handy too

it zooms in a whole lot closer than you can on the terraserver website , the zoom level is 1 meter per pixel for the closeups and you can zoom out to get a larger picture of the area.

the software is well worth it's price too.....lol
free!!!

This looks like some really neat software. I just downloaded it and will see if i can get it to work.
I have a Garmin 12XL from about 5 years ago but it works great and hasn't let me down once. I use the Maptech Terrain Navigator software to interface with my PC and Topo maps. Would be neat to see some aireal photos overlayed.

Todd,
I also tried to use the software with my eTrex,  I didn't have any luck.  Did you ever get it to work for you?  Cool software though.
Thanks,
-Scott-

I ended up just moving the pointer around to the Lat/Lon of the waypoint on my GPS.  It took a while to get the waypoints onto the photo but, it worked.  I uesd it to find exact points on the photo, then went out and scouted the areas that looked good on the photo.  It sure is a useful program.
