My son and I went to the ranch yesterday. At dusk a herd of hogs started working their way down the ridge, probably the same herd that my buddy JD had gotten his pig from recently (see other post). Duncan and I worked up the ridge with the wind and he lined up a 100 yard shot on a nice looking sow who was head down grazing. See video.
Hard to believe, but after clearly getting hit hard by a 30-06 and rolling downhill a bit, the hog must have gotten up and ran as we couldn’t find it despite 30 mins of searching before it got dark. Looks like he may have hit it in the neck above the spine. We’ll go back this morning to try to find it.

It sure looked like a kill shot, obviously not saying it was but it looks like it. Hope you guys find it.

That tree makes for a great rest. Shot looked a bit forward, but the concussion alone on a neck shot usually does a number on the neck bones. Hopefully you find him intact in the morning. Love springtime hog hunting.

Nope. Looked all over today but no sign at all. Bullet was a TSX (copper) at no more than 50 yards. Must have passed thru his neck above the spine.
