When do deer stop growing their antlers? I have a 4x4 on my property with around a 22-24 inch spread but not that tall of a rack yet... So I was wondering how much taller do you think it will get?

i think it depends on the area...for example deer in our A zone seem to drop velvet around a month before deer in the mountains will. But I would say that most deer should be done by july-august

Through July in NW Oregon. I find velvet and rubbed trees by Mid August most years.

So when they drop their velvet that's it, no more growth for the antlers?

That is correct. Once they stop growing the velvet dries up and they scrape it off with what ever they can. I have heard people describe it as a scab that is itching and they can't take it any more and have to get it off. Any how once it is dried thay are done growing.

My partner shot a buck in X3b a few years ago just starting to lose its velvet in the second week of October.
