hi,

Its my first season, and need some guidance as I dont know much.

Im trying to get out on a trip next weekend to get some birds. Possibly quail, ducks or a turkey.

I scouted the mono area of los padres near gibraltar resevor and found one covey of quail, and noticed it was an excellent campgound.

I have also frequented the area of point conception and stayed at jalama beach. The road down has some nice canyons and oaks. thought mabey there would be some turkeys.

Anyway, i just wanted to get out this weekend with some friends and do some blasting and casting.

Can anyone give me some advice on these areas?

Thanks,

Kevin

plenty of turkeys on Jalama Road, but the problem is all that land is private. But fi you want to do some surf fishing this is the month to do it at Jalama. Big surf perch are being caught, and the weather right now is beautiful up here, mid 70's no wind. I live in lompoc, but drive out to the Carrizo plain to do my quail hunting, too much damn poison oak for my liking. HTH

My nick name Pennywise comes from the Book It. By my nature I am a fun loving clown untill someone pisses me off and needs and attitude adjustment which I do really well. The 67 is from the year I was born. I am a big fan of the group though also. I grew up playing in Punk Rock bands and have opened for them on several occasions. As for the land, it is very tough to get in on any more. Back in the old days the land was owned by locals here and since my family is local as well I had access. as the years went by people sold their land and newcomers that bought it are not as hunter friendly. There are turkeys out in the Los Padres amd behind Lopez lake on public land.
