I'm going to be home the first two weeks of Sept and am planning on doing some squirrel hunting. A cousin in London went out on the opener and only saw one at a distance. Hope I do better since I haven't been squirrel hunting for a few years. Also going to try and get some dove hunting in.

Later,

I got up to go hunting August 30, 2 days ago. I went up to the hunting site and it rained the whole 2 hours I was up there.

I was going to plant some Bio-Logic, red clover, and some sweet clover as well, but all my plans were cancelled on account of the rain. Pretty much all that was good for was transporting 3 bags of fertilizer.

Well I'm back from my vacation. When I got there I wasn't real encouraged to hear that folks that had been out weren't seeing many squirrels at all. Well, I found a ridge a few years ago that has a big ol' black oak on it that is a den tree. I went to that ridge one evening and saw three squirrels and bagged one. It started raining and since it was getting late I decided to head out and return in a couple of mornings. I ended up seeing eight squirrels that morning and got 4. The wind was blowing quite a bit so I called it quits otherwise I probably would have gotten a limit. All the squirrels I got but one were young and all but one were boars. My cousin thinks the adult sows were holed up with litters. Might explain why no one was seeing any. They eating the hickory's up. Looked like all the oak acorns were still green. All the mast trees I saw were loaded with nuts. One little squirrel had a ton of fat on it. The deer will be healthy this fall!

Well, 2 weekends ago me and my dad went up and killed 6 between us. I had to tromp through all my woods to kill mine though!
