There are some places that hold some hogs all year round in big sur. Some of those are some of the purest russian you can get. I can go down there almost any time and glass hogs in small herds no less than 30 yards off the highway. The catch. Its all private property with a 0% chance of getting permission. As for finding some in public area. Gonna be tough. Were talking hiking in a couple of hours before getting into an area that would have a remote possibility. If you run some cold nosed long range dogs it can be done. There are some old timers who run plott hounds down there and get em on public land. But were talking 10-15 mile hikes chasing hounds all day. Chances are still slim. But for the rifle hunter its a long shot. The canyons are super steep. The brush is fairly solid in the places where the fire hasnt burned. But the fire is the up side this year. There are some open areas where a guy could glass some preveously burnt areas and spot one. Its a great area just to see the views. If I wanted to take a hike down there I would definitely bring my rifle and my binocs. Its worth goin down there even if you see nothing. give some feed back if you go.

As bigboar states,
Chances are still slim.
There are pigs in there sometimes and sometimes not, it is very steep and brushy and other than LPNF it's all private ranches. Coming from the Carmel area you should be able to access some of the very well known spots via the north or east sides, like Tassajara, Chews Ridge or the Carmel River valley. And remember it's lead free now...

Chances are slim, but nowhere near as slim as they'd be in your living room.

Get some maps and compare against the fire maps, then put on your boots and get out there.
