So this year has been pretty good for me. Been out on about 10 trips for Quail and chukar and only got skunked 1 time. One camping trip to the Mohave preserve and the rest have been local day trips. What is everyone else seeing?A9091C0E-62E2-4F68-8986-BEC4E9884E37.jpegAF725F51-5CA0-4F66-83E5-25ECDA66EE75.jpegD14921FC-40ED-4201-9536-C15DB629BCEA.jpeg1CEDF229-37EA-4A7E-9DB9-6967A33AE148.jpeg

I haven’t been out this year but, the amount of rain we got this winter and spring should of had the birds double clutching...at least a smaller second brood.

I hope that snake had a bad day...

I have been out a handful of times, seeing decent quail numbers. Still have not connected on the chuks

I have found quail west of barstow where chukar should have been. Finding quail with me dog. found chukar but they were flushing crazy scared before we could pin em, found em at 4100 ft.
next weeks storms should push birds lower hopefully cause working those slopes are killing this old man....
cold front should put those Mohave greens into hibernation :)

Got on some chukar the other day. Saw about 40, got only 1 though... thanks to my city 1100, was ready to toss that damn thing off a cliff and into a creek the following day. Oh well the wait is over and I'll be using a Franchi now.

It was one big covey. Went again, got on 20 bird covey but they were flushing little farther out and I missed at range. Many of the times I couldn't tell where they flew to once out of sight and it was hard to pick them up again. Fun chasing after them and it was a confidence booster being able to get on them again.

I've been walking back the opposite way I worked them, always jump a couple of stickers. This steel just doesn't have the knockdown power on those longer shots. I swear I cold folded a bird the other day and the dog went to pick it up and just as I got to the spot this Quail takes off like nothing happened. Good Fun!

I hit it hard last week in the southern sierra areas and never saw or heard a bird in spite of working 2 dogs in areas that have held birds in previous years. Only 3 quail so far this year but great training for me legs and dog.
