Seems like a good way to get shot to me. I don't think I would try it unless I was behind several locked gates.

I'm only hunting archery season now so less chance of getting shot. Wanna here from someone that's used one.

I would never use one as a blind, as it invites to many problems, manly from other animals (no I;m not referring to predators, although that could be a problem). I would however possibly use them as decoys.

Maybe the ones with the profiles of cows on the ground while I am in the tree above them, but no way do I sit behind them, even in archery season. You never know when that poacher is out.

I have never used them nor seen them before. That is my disclaimer. Good idea on many levels, but what if the deer (or whatever) come in from behind you. There is a big black spot waiting for them to see.

One more thing - one of the real advantages of a ground blind is the ability to take a nap. How could you do this with the umbrella?

If game comes up behind you then you need to learn how to work the wind cuz you're an idiot! Doh!

Yeah I have had game come up behind me many times in a ground blind in Montana. I've called coyotes that have come within 5 feet of me from behind even though the slight wind was in my face, you just never know what scent cone an animal is getting. Think about hunting dogs, it's not uncommon for them to be working into the wind and not find a bird on the first pass.

A lot of times animals approach water from the downwind side so as to scent check what may be AT the water that could be a danger to them. Does your statement mean that if you're sitting in a blind and an animal comes in down wind and smells you that you're an idiot? Just curious......

I like the portability of the umbrella and have more of an interest in using it as a portable blind (without the decoy image). I don't think I would try it on an elk hunt, too much invested to find out it's no good. I've only gotten one shot in three years of archery elk hunting, would hate to blow that one chance because I'm trying a new product. I am thinking of trying it on a turkey hunt first to see if it's practical. Walking stick, shooting stick and instant blind sounds like a good product for runnin and gunnin for thunder chickens. I think it could use some sort of portal to shoot through, not too interested in the tree attached umbrella function..............9 DAYS TILL MY ELK HUNT!!!!! WOOOOHOOOO!!!:smiley-mouse:
