anyone been to vandenberg lately?

Just wondering if anyone has got any up to date vandenberg info i.e. closures, launches etc. I m planning on heading up in the middle of december anyone else gonna be up there?

hey me and a couple buddies are gonna hunt up there the second week of jan. if you want maybe we could all meet up then. share some whiskey over a camp fire if nothing else, let me know. in any case good luck and if you have any info. to pass after your hunt let me know.

I work/live on Vandenberg and am a dedicated hog hunter. The base is currently closed for a launch on Thursday. The hogs are moving and have been out for three or four weeks. My hunting partner and I have seen hogs nearly every night.

I heard a rumor that Vandenberg would only be open to hunt Fri-Sun. I never heard if that came to pass or not. I was hoping maybe myfriendis410 or somebody local would know. I hope it's still open on weekdays as I was hoping to head up on Jan 2nd. Anybody else going to be up that way around then?

That was back during deer season. Think it was because there was a shortage of personnel to fully cover the whole base. However that was only during deer season. Pig season you can hunt all week long provided there isn't a launch scheduled.

No word on cutting back the hunting days. The only reason they cut it down during deer season was because of short manning on flight operations--a lot of security police from VAFB got deployed. Be warned that the new OI is sitting on the wing commander's desk with a mandatory orange requirement added. Been seeing hogs every night-shot a 208 pounder on 22 November, haven't seen anything I really wanted to shoot at since--hundred pounders or less. Not much rain yet, but it is greening up. A lot of out of town hunters road hunting right now.

Spoke to the Game Warden on base yesterday. They said no launches coming up for the next couple months that they know of. Didn't hear when the new hunter orange requirement might get implemented. Had to figure that was coming though.
