man, I used to hunt crows from the close of BowSeason till near the start of Turkey Season, lots of shooting and nothing to clean!
30 years ago when there were less houses we'd find a long gravel road thru the country side. Stop every 2 or 3 miles and set up on the edge of a field or high woods hill about 1/4 mile from the car, call them in, 20 mins later, drove on down the road and repeated it. ( have to call in new crows or the "Experienced" crows would tell the new crows there was danger)
It was great but now, no more long, gravel roads without houes.....
Our crow season just ended here in Wisconsin. They are fun to hunt, very smart birds. The ones around here get very call shy after only one outing. I have 10-15 spots that I hunt to be sure not to over hunt an area. Yet they learn very quickly. I use about 5-8 crow decoys,an owl decoy and Johny Stuawarts fighting crow tape. Very effective.
