anyone hunt vandenberg

has anyone here hunted vandenberg in the jan.-feb. timeframe? if so, then please feel free to share anything you got. this will be my first hunt for hogs and jan.-feb. is the last chance ill get to hunt hogs in california before getting out of the service. ive heard that vandenberg is plentiful so im leaning towards that base but if anyone knows anything better let me know. thanks in advance

Jan-Fed are probably your best bets. The ground will be nice and soggy with all the rain we should get this winter and the pigs will be up rooting.

Pigs are all over that place though. And you will be able to find them pretty much any where you go if you hunt for them.

I would try behind the Golf Course though. The tear that place up with some regularity. I've also seen plenty of pigs around the SLC 2 area. Get yourself a map of the base and make sure you stay in constant contact DF&G out there.

Before making that long trip there, call the game warden and make sure that the base is open for hunting. A missile launch will sure put a kink in your plans if you don't check first.

The best time of year to find hogs is the winter time. Lots of wet sows and if you shoot one be prepared to get dogged out for it. North base areas 2, 2A, 3 and 4 are all productive.
