For the second time this year some d-bag cut the lock off of the gate of my place in Lake County. This time I got a video of the guys that did it:
I know it's a long shot, but anyone recognize them? I'm filing a report with the Sheriff. Freaking irritating. These guys did it in the middle of the day, then didn't even drive in. They could have just hopped the fence and saved me $20 for a new lock.

Equally irritating was that shortly after discovering this on Sunday I missed a hog. I'd walked thru a valley and not seen anything, then got on my quad and started it. The sound spooked a big boar that must have just walked into the valley, I caught him out of the corner of my eye as he started to meander away. Squeezed off a 200-ish yard shot as he headed up a hill and missed him high.

Well it's not the horse and cowboy from last year. What is down that dirt road. That looked like punk kids going to smoke or drink out there. No need to cut the lock and definitely not hunters. Hope you get things under control. We all know that locks only keep out honest people. But for what it's worth. They make sum locks that are next to impossible to cut.

I'm sure there is still a line of guys that are waiting to go babysit your land and hogs for you. Lol
Best of luck buddy. Let us know if you get back after the one that got away.

Sorry to hear you have to go through that. If you only had someone to watch that gate for you...

No. The camera has a 10 minute delay between videos, they must not have spent much time before heading back.

To bad, hard to id from the back. I was curious to see if the bag came out empty. One thought is they where going to put out bait.
Just a thought, they could be up to any many of "No good".
I'd be pissed to. If it's any help, just know that some day some were they will get caught if they keep it up.

Looked like they were planting some bait. Neither had a rifle, they will be back I would get a second camera facing the other way or turn the one you have towards the gate.
and the lock KTKT shows one damn fine lock!!

Going in to check on their pot farm? Isn't Lake County pretty popular for grows?

Could have been spreading some seeds, if they were baiting you would think they would have been back the same evening or at minimum early next morning. But then again if you are just going to throw some pot seeds around why cut the lock and bring attention that someone had trespassed ?

Looks like it was apples in the bag, when you freeze frame it you can see that what ever is in it is round. I could not zoom in but the front guy may have a tattoo on his right calf, This is not the first time I take it? that is why you had the camera put up.

No telling what people are up to. Is there any other way out of that property or is there only one road in and same road out? Could they have not got picked up on cam while leaving? How do you know if the lock was cut at the same time? Do you check it daily? Just some info questions. I still think they look like pot heads or beer drinkers. But never know. They come in all shapes and sizes these days.

A few comments:
- Yes Lake County has a ton of pot grows, but I really doubt that there's an active one on the property as I know where all the water is and most of the ranch is rolling oaks that make it hard to hide a grow. Will check out some of the corners though.

- It isn't the first time... A few months ago the lock was cut but I didn't have a camera up. No obvious signs of entry.

- It's hard to put a camera in a spot facing the gate that isn't obvious. I'd hoped that I'd get a video when they walked back, but they must have done so before it reset. I'll reduce the delay time on the camera to just a few minutes.

So guess that means only one road in and one out. Couldn't walk fence line to another property or something. Is there public land around you or touching your land?

Lots of people will cross private land to get to Blm or forest land. Many different opinions on that??

Those sure do look like fruit in the bag. They are baiting, baiting early trying to get ready to cheat for the A zone archery maybe. Hard to tell what's in both of their hands. Bulkier than a phone, small game cams maybe? But it definitely looks like they will be back. Time for a sting! If they didn't stay long, the bait is not far from the gate. Try and locate it, get the warden out there, hopefully they'll be willing to come out and do a sting.

If you do not get a ton of traffic on that road you may want to set the camera down from the gate close to the fence line and get a video of there vehicle and license plate, then It doesn't matter If you see there faces or not. If they are Baiting you know they will be crawling
down the road glassing your property early morning and late evening.

This seems like an obvious question: is your property posted?

Only one road in/out, and no public land near.

Sure does look like the bag has apples or other fruit in it, will take a good look around this weekend.

Land is very well posted, including one sign inside the property right next to the first guy.

I think the second guy has a water bottle that he puts in his pocket at the very beginning, then has a long key chain??

Hard to find good spots to hide other cameras that won't be obvious but I'll try. Warden and Sheriff's office have been informed and both are going to watch the place more carefully.
