Most of my photography consists of action shots at youth sporting events - gymnastics, soccer, baseball. I can easily fill up multiple cf cards in a few hours of shooting. I'm heading to the Souteast Regional Level 8 gymnastics meet in Ft Lauderdale in a couple of weeks. I'm going to be shooting at least 8 girls during the weekend (the TN team) and will be needing extra space. I can carry my laptop down with me however I don't want to take it to the meet with me for 3 days. I'm either going to need to buy 2-4 more CF cards or get a portable mass storage device. I'm looking at the Apacer CD211 or CD311. The difference being the CD211 is only the case and you put your own laptop hard drive in it and the CD311 comes with a 40 GB disk preinstalled. The CD311 has a little newer OS on it that is supposedly more efficient at copying the files (i.e. faster and less battery consumption). You transfer files from CF cards by pluggin in your USB 2.0 reader to it. Do any of you have these type devices? BTW - these Apacer units will be CD211 - $49 + 40 GB Toshiba disk $72 for total of $121 and the CD311 is $144 (including the 40 GB disk). I'm trying to decide if the supposed features of the CD311 are worth it.
