Well now I have confused myself....Trying to remember when I actually took this on our trip I thought we were decending into Salt Lake City, Utah to catch a hop to Steamboat Springs, CO, so At first I thought Arlow was correct
The along comes droptine who sounds like he knows exactly where I was and the name of the mountain at the time of this photogragh.
Now droptine tell me....Was I very far from Salt Lake City at this time. Also thanks for the heads up on the mountain name I will make a memo for my records. Part of the trip I had my GPS stuck up against the window and could tell where I was, but the weather was so perfect on the way out I took a lot of pics from the airplane. You guys that get to live around the Rockies sure have some secnic beauty in your states. This was my first opportunity to see any of Utah (even if was from the sky)
It is about 20 miles south of Salt Lake City. I grew up near that mountain, that is why I recognized it. It is definitely in the flight path descending into Salt Lake International Airport. The big road that crosses the picture diagonally is I-15.
I think _droptine got it. BlackTimber can probably give a confirmation too. My relatives live around here (Heber/Charleston). I've been to Mt Timp. It is beautiful country.
Here is an aerial from similiar perspective. (computer generated)
Makes me want to go visit again. You can see Deer Creek Resevoir/Provo River.
