Do boar actually come after you and try to complete some sort of an attack on your person?
I have read decades worth of magazines in my youth and remember the supposed true stories of survival and attack and they always attempted to make the boar out to be in fact a wild and dangerous animal that will come after you. But, in same magazines but in the article tips sections, the professionals would often claim it is all hog wash and that they just scatter and go where ever and it seems they are coming after you thrashing and such due to their shear numbers and the quality of their vision. Please post up what you all know on this and maybe site some actual cases of attack and injuries that can be proven to be directed towards a person. I understand most animals will fight back when cornered and take out a dog or such and so perhaps all such cases along with extremely close human encounters should be dismissed.. A wall of thick stuff is exactly that.. a wall so we don't need a case where a guy went into some thick one way out type place and got ran over or attacked...
Have at it guys, need all the info I can get cause I may go after one with a knife to stay PC..

A wounded boar, or sow for that matter will attack you. Not always, but more than half of the time. Even if they are not wounded , and just trying to get past you, they can nail you in the leg pretty good, and they are very fast. Just ask my buddy, who's got a 6 inch gash on the back of his leg to prove it.

Wounded, or cornered with no other escape route, and they will charge in a heartbeat. But given the chance they will retreat.

Just talk to any dog hunter that hunts pigs, they get the most close up action.

Buy the movie called Ragin Boars. That will answer your question. The same hog takes out a few guys.

yes, they will attack. Sows and boars.

I witnessed a sow knock over a hunting partner and grovel around on the guy's chest. The pig wasn't really cornered, but the guy's catahoula wasn't letting her run off either. If that pig was a male, he could have been in real trouble. Regardless, he canoe'd her head with a .44

Ditto that Loco. I bagged 2 in the last year and they both responded well after receiving a 150 grain attitude adjustment. They are to be respected, but no need to fear them. Go get'em wello.

I don't hunt wild pigs, but I have fed domestic pigs and have encountered wild pigs while biking.

Pigs are aggressive in that the way they eat is to physically move another pig out of the way.

But, I think the aggressive you are asking about is do they attack perople. I don't think they all attack people, but due to their poor eyesight and ability to move fast, many think when a pig is trying to escape, and the pig runs in their direction, they are being attacked. I think, when a pig is trying to escape, he may not see you, and if he doesn't smell you, he just starts running. If you are in his way, it appears he is coming after you. I have never heard of someone being "treed" by a pig. I do think there is an occasional pig who is just mean, and if that pig is running toward you, and recognizes you, he will take a swipe at you. Probably a scared pig would do that to.

I have met several bicylists who thought they were being attacked, it is hilarious to hear them. Hilarious, because they exaggerate what happened, and because they don't have a clue to what is going on. A buddy saw a "pig attack". Couple of bicylists ride up on a pig, first person panics, dumps the bike, person behind him crashes too. Pig runs off, the people claimed they were attacked by pigs.

Oh boy that "Lost" episode was funny stuff. I lmaof, it was made to be so dramatic... That show along with a general itch over the years on this inspired me to ask you all...
Farralon: There is a thread somewhere in here where a guy admits being "treed", I am still waiting for his chime-in, don't remember who it was now though...

After droping one from a large group, the rest scattered. But, while they were trying to circle around past me, a junior sized piglet went face to face with me at about 10 yards. There was no doubt in my mind that it wanted a piece of me. It would make noises and lunge forward at me several times, until finally my stomping and yelling scared it off in the opposite direction. Those striped ones are mean!

PIGS DO ATTACK HUMANS! Last May a group of us were camping at Tejon Ranch. Over the course of a weekend 30 or 35 of us were attacked by wild pigs. Luckily we were all successfully able to defend ourselves. I had a group of 4 grunting at me and heading straight in my direction. I had no choice but to shoot one of them in order to deter the others. There was only a canyon and about 300 yards between us. Whew! That was a close call! I have actually heard of people getting tusked by "cornered" pigs. -Tony

Wello, I think you'd be drooling a lot more if you saw Loco's older Avatar, the cowgirl by the campfire !

Hey Rancho Loco, Bring her back !

I can't wait to get home to check out the link. The site was blocked here at work for " lingerie/bikini, sexuality." I kid you not.
