The second time I ever tried trap shooting, I shot a 21, 23 and a 25. What’s so hard about trap?

Dove is a different story. To answer your question, Turkey, Quail, Grouse, Chickens, Crow, Roosters, Pheasants, Ostrich, wounded Chucker, Ptarmigan (sp), Rhode Island Reds, Plymouth Barred, Spotted Owl, more Chickens are all easier than Dove IMO.

ESSposse,

I that another Benelli SBE or the same Jam-a-matic you've been playing with?
<

Let's see, three shells in .005 seconds?, nah. It goes like this:
  • Pull the tirgger
  • Pull the trigger again and nothing happens
  • ESSposse turns the gun on its side and utters a few unmentionables
  • Hand cranks one out & in
  • Lifts the gun just in time to see me dust it
  • One shot in 7.6 seconds
I'm still willing to let you try out my Beretta Ultima - it shoots soooo sweet

For you folks that are great at skeet and trap and haven't yet tried sporting clays...
might I suggest you give it a try. After you've tried it....

Go take a sporting clays clinic. Money well spent. After that, you can take the "One Box, One Kill" pin off your dove hat.

Someone once told me that trap was easy to learn, difficult to master; skeet was difficult to learn, easy to master.

I found sporting clays to be a completely different animal. I wasn't bad at either skeet or trap, and tried sporting clays. You'd have thought I'd never held a gun before. Same for my partner. The clinic really made the difference. Can you say "pass thru"?

Mrgadget, after reading all these posts I decided to give it a try. Lets just say it was a very humbling experience!!! got a 52 on the sporting clays and a (in a whisper) 12 on the five stand. But MANNNNNN was that fun!!! I think I just found my new found love!!

Actually, a 52 and a 12 isn't bad for the first timer. I think the thing about clays or 5 stand that makes it most difficult is the fact that it's soooo different. The biggest question in your mind becomes, "How far do I lead it?". The answer is simple: Don't lead it, pass thru it.

Sign up for a sporting clays clinic, or find someone that can teach you how to shoot the "pass thru" method vs. the sustained lead. It's a really hard habit to break, but worth the changeover. No more guessing about how far to lead a bird!

I shot at Camp Perry (HP Rifle) in 1975 and 76. I achieved "Distinguished Expert" in small bore three position.
I can not hit a duck with a shotgun.
Well, I hit some, but I don't need a box of shells for a limit of Doves, and a box won't get me close to seven ducks.
There, my dirty laundry.
