Just curious guys, how was everyone elses hunt that went from JHO. Did you guys see many deer, coues or muley? I have several options for out of state hunting for this year, and this is definetely one of them. My dad lives in AZ and I would love to take him and my son on a trip like this. Lets hear what you seen!!
Here you go guys. I just had these sent to me so I could get them posted. I'd prefer it be ME behind the Javelina kill in photo 1 instead of Buck-eye but both nice looking pics just the same. Enjoy!
Thanks for sizing those pics Mark. Buck Eye is the big guy in the photo. He's probably weighing in at 240, so the javy is bigger than it appears. Bucky has been relocating to Orange County, so I figured it was time to see some pics of his javelina.
The second pick is of the area that we were hunting. This is one of the many areas that our Scouting Service, "Desert Bull," suggested we hunt. It paid off.
Bucky stuck this guy at 5 yards, maybe less. We had five of these critters coming right at us, into our set up. I would have had a shot at about 10 yards if Bucky could have waited another two seconds But, the pressure was on with this guy right in his kitchen. He had to shoot. Glad he did. It was awesome. Right thru the heart. At the shot the brush erupted with 20+ javelina of all shapes and sizes. They did not return to the call which was unusual, and a bummer. However, the trip was a huge success. We had a great time. Great area. Great hunt. Congrats to my buddy Buck Eye.
nice hog! buck eye is brave to lay on the ground like that!! there must have been 6,000,000 types of thorny plants out there! i know that mtn well in the second pic. i will be back next year.
Being off of this website for so long is difficult. You get withdrawls. I felt like a smoker there for a bit.
First off, thanks to Mark to cropping those pictures. I had no idea how to do it. I spent an hour or so trying, and the rest of the day trying to push the computer through my upstairs window!!
I appreciate all of your congrats and well wishes. It was a heck of a hunt. Everything about that area was incredible. That reminds me...does AZ have a plant that does have thorns or needles? I felt like a freaking pin cushion. Just as well, I am probably going to develope diabetes from the 8 boxes of Pop Tars I ate that week.
I felt bad for One Track. He had a great shot on several nice pigs. Mine just came out of nowhere and I didnt have time to survey the situation. You just kinda lose track of your surroundings when at full draw and an animal in your kitchen. A double would have been nice. Maybe at the Ham Slam.
Cant say enough about Coues and his scouting. Awesome.
And finally, I did not get a chance to weigh that javy, but she was pretty heavy. I can assure you that she weighed close to 200 pounds after I had to hump her out of the desert and mountains for two miles. By the way One Track, thanks to the stomach flu I am down to 230!! Woo Hoo! Thank again to all my huntin friends. Hope I get a chance to congratulate ya'll soon on YOUR next kill.
