Just got back from my fourth and final scouting trip before the big hunt this Friday. Not sure if you guys are familiar with Unit 1 in Arizona. It's runs from the New Mexico Border west to the White Mountain Apache Indian Reservation. It can cost upward of 40K for a trophy hunt on the reservation. Needless to say I'm stoked. And after the past two trips my hopes are extremely high. 2 weeks ago we saw at least 200 head of elk. Several big bulls in multiple herds. They were out in the open grazing in the meadows and bugling even though it's late. Today we saw just as many, if not more. Not as many bulls and no bugling...but sooooooo many elk.

I'll be posting my story as soon as I get back...either way.

Thanks for all the great posts and stories. I enjoy keeping up with all of your hunts.

Can't wait to see the picks. I'm predicting a 360+ bull. I spent ten days in that unit last year. It was incredible. Good luck being sent telepathically to you.

Thanks for the well wishes guys. Man...if I could only get into a 360+ bull...For those of you familiar with the Unit 1 we'll be south of Eager. And if any of you are in the area we'll be the guys with a 30 foot toy-hauler, green Tahoe and Grey Dodge. Stop by and say hello...it'll be a party up there all weekend.

Diablo!!

Can't wait to hear how the hunt went.

I am amazed that we haven't had any reports on this from AZ.

Time will tell i hope.

I drew an archery tag there in 2002. There were more elk and big bulls than anywhere I've hunted in my life. So many it wasn't much of a challenge, even with a bow. It's really just a matter of picking which bull you want. I filled my tag on the 5th morning after passing on about 20 bulls in bow range. Unreal. I agree 360" should be your goal. Mine scored 336" but with a rifle you should hold out. Don't be disappointed with a 350" tho.
