After passing up a 3x2 young muley on opening morning, did i ever would of thought this coveted zone would give me such a tough time. And talking to many other hunters and sharing our frustrations on the lack of deers and very warm temps that kicked our butts. I did see a doe or 2 sporting a collared device on it and a few fawns, after chatting with a biologist near by confirmed that those devices where used to monitor where these herds are migrating throughout the year. Also spoke to a few locals and they too said the decline in the deers is dramatic from what it used to be a few years back and dont know whats causing the decline. Well it saddens me to say that this morning on carpenters valley rd i found a doe and her fawn shot and left to rot. These assholes needs to be brought to justice. I immediately called the dfg and gave them the coordinates to the location where these deers were located at. If anyone has any information about these killings please let the dfg know. The decline in the deer population due to habitat loss or what not dont need these sick idiots killing them for pleasure. Maybe its time to close the area for hunting and give these deers a few years to bounce back. Im just glad i passed on the buck on opening day cause theres always next year that i can hunt somewhere else.

Such a waste, but I agree with not closing the area, If DFG had the resources to monitor the area and catch these A holes that
would be great, but they don't. so unless law abiding hunters are out there it basically turns the poachers free to reek havoc on
the wild life unchecked.

I don't want to act like i have all the answers but this pisses me off! poaching has been going on for a very long time in this area (and the neighboring unit x7b) if someone wanted to catch a poacher in these areas I dont think it would take to long. something must be done they've helped ruin these units.

Poaching is bad enough, but leaving them to waste like that is salt in the wound. This is the kind of crap that turns nonhunters into antihunters, because they don't know the difference in an ethical hunter and a poacher, but they go hiking and find crap like this... these poachers are a waste of oxygen!
