ATA and Alabama to Celebrate Partnership at City of Athens Archery Park Dedication

2/28/08

On February 28th ATA will celebrate a partnership with the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (ADCNR) at an archery park grand opening event in Athens, Alabama. ATA signed a Memorandum of Understanding with ADCNR in 2006 and this is the first major project as a result of this partnership. Jay McAninch, ATA President and CEO commented, "We are extremely excited about the opening of this first ever archery park. And to see it built next to a school and other outdoor recreation opportunities in the City of Athens is a huge bonus." The ACDNR worked closely with the City of Athens to build this archery park and will begin expanding the National Archery in the Schools Program in the local area as well as work with the city and county to provide recreational archery programs at the site with $50,000 provided by ATA for the project.

The event will take place at the site of the new archery park in the City of Athens, Alabama. ATA members, who would like to and are able to attend the event, should contact Kelly Kelly at 1-507-877-5300.
