Had a blast again in AZ on Javelina. Had a sucessful hunt last year and this year was much the same. Took my Dad this year and Scottsad71 and Dwagoner also. We hunted around Prescott area and got into some Javis. Not as many as last season but enough to get in done. My Dad and I were the first ones to strike in 2012 on opening morning we had a small group of 6 feeding in a valley below us. My Dad had the first chance and moved into about 20 yards but could not get his range finder to range the javi, due to the fact the glass on his range finder had been pushed back so he had to guesstimate settled in on a javi and realeased. Arrow hit low, he aimed with the 20 pin but the javi must had been at 25-30. The Javis took off running but I was able to watch them crest over 2 little hills the the east. I moved to new vantage spot and relocted the group. My Dad was able to follow their tracks and he was on them again. For the next hour he worked is way into 20 yards again and had one of them walk right by him at 20 yards, this time he center punched him with ease. I watched the group take off again but notice one of them split off of the group and had just a slight limp. I thought to my self that must be the one my Dad shot at the first time so I knew right then that was the only one I would go after. I noticed he was headed almost right at me so I closed the distance 150 yards and before I could do anything he popped up at 5 yards from me. I got an arrow ready and as he trotted off he had to come accross and opening which was 30 yards in front of me so I drew waited he moved into the opening and "whoofed" at him, he stopped and I drilled him and he dropped right there. 2 Javis down baby! Walked over to my Dad and I was pumped because I watched his whole stalk and shot and everything. Then I asked him if he knew where the one he shot at earlier was and he said I ran off with the others and I said "No he didn't he is having a death nap over the hill." He and I where really pumped it was his first ever bow kill and we doubled up on the opener and the one he thought he wounded was now down as well, as a super ethical hunter he is, it just made it all worth it for me to go after that one only and get him it would have bugged him for ever. Both the javis weren't huge many be 45 pounds and 50 pounds. One of the big boars in the group looked close to 70 pounds. Anyway a great time. Later in the day we decided to hit up a deer goldmine he had found earlier and we were going to focus on deer. Scott was in on a little forky at 24 yards but only had a head shot. As Scott was closing in on the deer Dennis said he had shot a Javelina. So I peeled off and went to help him look for it since it was getting late and sunset was upon us. We located Dennis's Javi by using "whoofs" so see if he was layed up under one of the bushes in and area and Dennis drilled one more into him and Dennis also had his ever first Javi down and first ever out of state animal down. For the next few days we all tried to find Javis for Scott and he was able to close in on a group and did get a shot off but the thorny "Cat Claw" bushes deflected his shot. Had a great time again. ALso ended up with a deer that story is in the Mule Forum. Enjoy the pics Kurt
