My partner drew Kaibab 12aw last year and I went to film his hunt. I fell in love with the plateau, what a place!
We stopped to gas up at Jacob Lake and took advantage of the lunch counter. The guy sitting next to us started applying when his son was born., I asked" How old's your son?" and the guys partner says, "that's me". 19 years to draw! But oooh, its worth it.
I love that mask. It's in my pack all the time and really comes in handy for waking up sleepy partners or perking up a dull afternoon glassing. Normally, I try and get at least one photo wearing that mask so I can post it here. Keeps all the JhO'er's guessing about the "Man behind the Mask":lol bashing sign:
Congrats to those of you who got drawn = elk 2011....so very cool.
I posted this message elsewhere, but thought I'd copy/paste it here to in hopes I get some play on it.
I drew a tag (archery) in Unit 23 - Nov 11-24. In past years, I have hunted the North half. I am considering trying out the South half this year (2011). Three questions: (1) Where in the South half would you recommend? (2) Coming off of 288, which are some roads to use. (3) Any reputible guides in the area?
Kind regards,
kieta
Purchased a leftover early archery cow tag for Unit 1 Coon Canyon Area Aug. 5th thru 8th. Anyone with experience in the Apachi National Forest area? Never been to the area and have only the three days prior to the hunt to scout. Looking for thoughts or input on this early hunt.
