My partners and I from Michigan went to north central Missouri (15th through the 18th) and just returned. The area was beautiful. The weather was decent though the wind was a bit much but we still had a great time. Although there were no big boys harvested but all three of us feel it was a great hunt. Between the three of us we saw 1 that would possibly make B&C, 3 definite P&Y bucks, 3 more that were borderline P&Y. I personally saw 11 different bucks with the highlight being Saturday night. I sat until I couldn't (clearly) see my decoy at 25 yards. I got down and walked to the edge of the field to pick up a scent wick from a scrape. I made no special effort to be quiet as I didn't want any deer coming in as I was leaving. I stepped to the field edge and took one step towards my decoy to take it down and realized that there was a "friend" with my decoy. 33 yards away was a buck standing, dividing his attention between me, the decoy and something out to the north in the hay field. He came closer to the decoy and I figured I would get a close-up view of my decoy getting attacked. I pulled out my binoculars as I was trying to determine how large a rack the buck had. After looking at the decoy and closing to about 3 yards (to the decoy) he looked out to the field again where I observed another, smaller buck. The first buck then went towards the second buck and went into a dominate behavior. He puffed up, laid his ears back and walked stiff-legged sidling towards the littler buck. This went on for a couple of minutes then they moved to about 30 yards from me and started sparring. No camera so sorry about no pictures but this was great. I had to call my buddy on the radio to come pick me up so that I wouldn't bump them too severely. I saw bucks from this stand three times and 7 total that I think were 5 different ones. Wow. Already planning next year's trip.

Only saw one turkey, a hen that wouldn't give anyone a shot. I doubt if any of us would have shot a turkey even if we had the chance. As far as next year, we are planning to be back the first week of November (October 30 through November 6). The fella that we hunted with has that week set aside for someone else. I've already started counting the weeks.

May I ask what brand of decoy you were using and what part of the state you were hunting at. Sounds like you had a great trip.

I use a Delta decoy, the kind that splits in half and you store the legs and stuff inside it. I put a small white cloth on one ear and made a tail of the same material to give it a bit of movement in the wind. I also use a "half-rack" antler to depict a less dominant deer to any who may show up. (I have to use the subterfuge here in Michigan where a 19 month old buck may be the dominant one in the area, lol). We were hunting in Linn county. Yes we all were happy with our trip and are looking forward to next year.

Man, that is good news to me. I have 320 acres right there and will be heading down on the 10th.

My sister's family is outside of Linneus. Have seen lots of Deer and Turkey while visiting there. Glad you had a good trip. Good luck the rest of the season.
