My daughter was shooting my wifes 7mm08. It's a youth mod seven Remington topped with a Nikon omega 1.65x5x36 . Shooting a 140 gr Fed Prem with Barns TSX. I was shooting a Rem 700 30-06 topped with a Leupold VXII 3x9x40 . I was shooting a 165 gr federal fusion that I will not hunt with anymore. When I shot the javelina I hit it to far back. The bullet didn't hit any bone and came out in three pieces. The spotted hog I shot I hit dead in the shoulder. the bullet hit the knuckle and truned stright up and came out the back of it's neck. Didn't even break into the chest at all. It shocked the spin and knocked the hog out for 4 minutes. Then the hog got up and ran off . I thought it was dead. If it wasn't for Pete's blood dog it would have never been recovered. My rifle shoots the Fed fusion like a tack driver. But one bullet holds together very well and the next blows up on soft tissue.
My rifle also shoots the fed prem with barnes tsx very well. but I only had a couple bullets. I had 4 boxes of fusion so I went with them. I am a big fan of the Barnes TSX. And it will be my hunting bullet from now on.
